At FCL, the initial consultation is always free.

 

 

 

LEGAL AID

 

The decision whether to take a case on Legal Aid is determined on a case by case basis depending on factors such as the length of the client's relationship with FCL, the nature of the case, and the novelty of the issues raised in the case.

 

 

 

PRIVATE CLIENTS

 

Fees for conducting a case depend on a number of factors including, but not limited to:

• the complexity of the matter,

• the types of issues raised,

• the length of the trial, and

• the amount of preparation required.

 

For these reasons, it is not possible to provide a fair and accurate assessment of the anticipated fees without first meeting with you and discussing your case.

 

We have two methods of billing private accounts: block fees and hourly rates.

 

Block Fees

 

Block fees have the benefit of substantially decreasing the uncertainty about the final cost of your case. We structure our block fees to provide clients with options that allow them to manage the cost of their case by adding or subtracting coverage for certain types of services.

 

Hourly rates

 

Clients who choose to retain us on an hourly rate basis have a variety of invoice timing options (weekly, biweekly, or monthly) to help them stay on top of the costs of their litigation. All work done on the hourly rate is agreed upon in writing in advance.

 

Payment Plans

 

We recognize that criminal charges are an unexpected crisis and will work with you to structure a reasonable payment plan.
